Me thinks it's time to hang up The Sweatervest

You can understand a loss by The Son of Sweatervest. He was making his debut in a brave new world. A world that had never before seen Indiana State score 42 points in a half against SIU.

But when The Sweatervest (formerly known as The SlumpBusting Sweatervest) takes a dive, it's almost disheartening.

Even the ultra-classy sports coat wasn't good enough.

Well, at least the Valley's best dressed sports writer has a nice night on the town ahead of him in his hometown of Chicago.

The (Original) Sweatervest Returns

With the SIU cheering section behind me, I'm ready to end this losing streak. I've brought out the Original Sweatervest to do some damage.

The Sweatervest Chronicles: Son of Sweatervest

I love the changing of the seasons because lots of clothes that I like (but can't afford) go on sale.

So when I found an argyle sweatervest for $9.97, I couldn't turn it down.

And since SIU is on a two-game losing streak ... and the original sweatervest out of commission, I bring to you Sweatervest II: Son of Sweatervest.

I hope the newest incarnation of my favorite outfit brings the Salukis some good luck.

You can't best the (sweater)vest!

I've come to the conclusion that the sweatervest > all other forms of sweaters and vests.

It has powers beyond making me look like a professional journalist that knows how to put together a nice-looking outfit.

The SIU men's basketball team is now 2-0 in games where I sport the sweatervest.

Coincidentally (ironically?) both wins came after overtime losses.

SIU 68 Bradley 62 in the debut of "The Sweatervest"

SIU 72 Missouri State 64 in "The Sweatervest Returns"

Don't get me wrong, if I wear this get-up on Saturday, I'll get booed out of the SIU Arena.

So this week I will be in search of "The Sweatervest II: Son of Sweatervest" so that doesn't happen.
