I can't believe that tomorrow I will be starting what will (hopefully) be my final semester at SIUC. It's still kind of a blur to me how I got to this point in my life. I figure I've been through a lot in the four-and-a-half years I have been here.
I've had good roommates and bad roommates. This semester, I live with no roommates. I have spent so much time at Sean & Anthony's that some people consider me to be an honorary roommate.
I have lived on campus and off campus. I've hit up house parties on weekdays and on weekends. I've done a bar crawl and I've crawled out of bars. I've stayed out all night and slept all day. I've cracked a beer to start my morning and to close my night.
I've befriended Packers fans, Cardinals fans and White Sox fans and have no reservations about saying they are among my best friends.
Random road trips? Been there, done that. Planned road trips? Yep, them too. I've racked up thousands of miles on my car traveling to St. Louis, Springfield (Mo.), Youngstown (Ohio), New York City, DeKalb (Ill.) and Indianapolis.
I've written stories about track and field, swimming, golf, tennis, baseball, basketball and football. I have also covered an NBA game in press row with locker room access. I also almost caught a glimpse of a pro athletes private parts. I've written poems about pretty girls, baseball teams and pretty girls I have met while watching baseball teams.
I've stayed up all night in big cities, small towns, suburbs and college campuses. I have cooked, cleaned and baked and balled. I have hustled, gotten hammered and have suffered devastating hangovers.
I have fallen in and out of love with blondes, brunettes, and red-heads. Not to mention blondes with brunette streaks, brunettes with blonde streaks and girls whose hair would be described as strawberry blond.
I've been the heartbroken, but I'm not sure if I've ever been the heart breaker.
I have also done countless things that should probably never be mentioned on a blog, in a diary or journal or to anyone that was not a part of said events.
The point is that I feel as if I have done more in my collegiate career than some people do in their lifetimes. Do I wish that I went to a bigger school? Sometimes. But despite the lowest of lows, I can honestly say that as of today I would not change anything.
Well, except that I would land those winning lotto numbers. It's hard out here for a cash strapped college kid.
